Ericeira has some fantastic breakfast and brunch spots. If you’re like me and adore the first meal of the day, here are some of my favorite places for brunch and breakfast in Ericeira

Quick tips for your Ericeira breakfast and brunch:

  • On the weekends, especially during the summer high season, it’s worth making a reservation so you don’t have to wait for your table.
  • Nearly every cafe in Ericeira has great espresso. When you order a “coffee”, you’re ordering a small espresso.
  • For cappuccinos and lattes, my favorite places are Balagan, Dear Rose, and Sunset Bamboo.
  • For a quick and easy breakfast, grab a pastry or bread at one of Ericeira’s many bakeries and enjoy by the beach (Pão da Vila, Terço do Meio, and Ericeirapão are easy options in the center of town)

11 Great Ericeira Brunch and Breakfast Places

Balagan

Balagan Ericeira:

  • The cafe (downstairs) open every day from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm
  • The restaurant (upstairs) open Wednesday to Monday from 12:30 pm to 11:00 pm
  • Address: Praia do Sul, Ericeira
  • Find on their website and Instagram

Balagan is a must when visiting Ericeira. It’s located on the beach at Praia do Sul so you’ll have incredible views while you eat, plus they make great coffees, juices, and Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired dishes.

Downstairs, there’s a walk-up cafe where you can order from a smaller menu, and the food is always amazing. You can try breakfast bowls, croissants, cinnamon rolls, and wraps. They have indoor and outdoor seating, WiFi, and a special table for coworking if you’d like to get some work done.

Upstairs, there’s a more formal dining area where you can reserve tables for lunch and dinner. This is best if you want a sit-down brunch or if you want a premium table with an even better sea view. I recommend getting the Grand Balagan Mezze plate if you want to try a little of everything – it comes with pita, hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush, and veggies that are so good you’ll want to lick the plate.

If you come for brunch drinks or later in the evening, Balagan also makes a mean cocktail. I love their Balagan spritz (dangerous!) and gin basil (even more dangerous!) and of course, the panorama sea view doesn’t hurt.

Terço do Meio Sourdough Bakery & Café

Terço do Meio Sourdough Bakery & Café Ericeira:

  • Wednesday – Saturday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Sunday: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
  • Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Address: Praça dos Navegantes loja 16, 2655-320 Ericeira
  • Find on Instagram

If you’re looking for a quick breakfast, as well as the best bread and treats in town, swing by Terco do Meio sourdough bakery. They have the best cinnamon roll in Ericeira (trust me, I’ve tried all of them!), the owners are wonderful, and you can try a small seasonal menu of incredible sandwiches and bakery delights made fresh in-house.

Make sure to get anything made with their focaccia bread, and grab a cookie for later. They also have vegan bakery options available. The temptation to come here every single day and eat everything on the menu is very hard to resist.

Dear Rose Cafe

Dear Rose Ericeira:

  • Open Wednesday to Sunday
  • Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Hours: 10:30 am until 4:30 pm
  • Address: Rua Santo Antonio 12A, Ericeira
  • Find on Instagram

Dear Rose is a small cafe in town near Praia dos Pescadores and they’re known for having excellent coffee. Their baked goods are also delicious (I love the lemon cake and carrot cake) and they have vegan options. There’s a breakfast and brunch menu with bagels, shakshuka, acai bowls, and savory bowls, as well as seasonal specials like curry and creative toasts.

Because Dear Rose has just a few tables, it can sometimes be a challenge to get a seat on the weekends, but even if it’s full you can still grab something for takeaway and eat it on the benches near the beach. I love stopping in Dear Rose for a coffee to go while I’m walking through town or on my way to Pescadores.

Sunset Bamboo

Sunset Bamboo Ericeira:

  • Closed on Wednesday
  • Hours: 10:00 am until 5:00 pm
  • Address: Travessa do Jogo da Bola
  • Find on Instagram

Another great coffee spot located right off the main square is Sunset Bamboo. They have nice coffees and juices, and to eat I love their Yogy Acai bowl (a combination of yogurt and Acai), their burritos, and their bagels. They also have tasty tostas that you can get in full-size or half-size.

Sunset Bamboo has nice outdoor seating with umbrellas if the weather is good, and they also have a comfy inside space with lots of tables and a couch area. You can cowork here on less crowded days, and this is another spot where I like to grab a takeaway coffee (good cappuccinos) while going out on adventures for the day. They don’t take cards, so make sure to grab cash at one of the ATMs in the town square before you visit.

Green is Good

Green is Good Ericeira:

Green is Good is a great choice for vegans and vegetarians, or anyone who wants a little more greenery in their day. GIG has lots of salads, bowls, and breakfast specials, as well as an excellent brunch deal where you get to try a little of everything on a giant platter, perfect for sharing!

I love their Benegig mushroom crostini (toast with spinach, mushrooms, hollandaise, poached eggs, and halloumi) and the decadent coconut and chocolate pancakes. They also have fresh juices and infusions.

Nalu Bowls

Nalu Bowls Ericeira:

  • Every day from 10:30 am – 7:00 pm during the summer
  • Hours vary by season
  • Address: Ericeira, Praia do Sul
  • Find on Instagram

Nalu Bowls serves Bali-style smoothie bowls and coffee at an outdoor cafe overlooking Praia do Sul. They make the bowls fresh to order, and the bright flavors are great after a morning at the beach or a long surf session. Perfect if you’re looking for a healthy and fruity start to your morning.

Villa Brunch Café

Villa Brunch Cafe Ericeira:

Villa Brunch Cafe is a little breakfast and lunch spot on the main level of a boutique hotel in Ericeira with quirky decorations, a beautiful courtyard, and tasty food options. I’ve eaten here a few times for breakfast and brunch, and I love their set menu options which you can customize. There are also yummy-looking bowls, toasts, and sweet treats.

Brunch Me Ericeira

Brunch Me Ericeira:

  • Closed Monday
  • Tuesday to Thursday 10:00 am – 12:00 am
  • Friday and Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 am
  • Sunday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Address: Praça dos Navegantes, 8, Ericeira, Portugal
  • Find Brunch Me on Facebook

If you’re looking for Ericeira brunch, look no further! Brunch Me has several different set menu brunches that include hot drinks, juices, savory dishes, and sweet dishes. This is the dream if you’re like me and can never decide which flavors to go for at breakfast. They also have croissants, crepes, fruity yogurt bowls, and toasts, as well as a “Breakfast for dinner” option if you’re craving brunch later in the day.

Ericeirapão

Ericeirapão Breakfast Ericeira:

  • Open every day from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
  • Address: R. Dr. Eduardo Burnay 25, 2655-370 Ericeira
  • Find on Google Maps

Ericeirapão is a local bakery and breakfast spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. In addition to picking up your bread for the day, they also have bagels, yogurt bowls, pancakes, egg dishes, and big (giant!) toasts.

I love stopping in for a bagel and fresh green juice, plus the outdoor seating area is perfect for people-watching on one of the main pedestrian roads of Ericeira. To order here, enter the restaurant and take a number from the machine at the door. Once your number is displayed on the electronic screen, you can order for dine-in or takeaway.

Pão da Vila

An omelette with a side of fries and salad from Pão da Vila

Pão da Vila Ericeira:

An Ericeira classic! Pão da Vila is a bakery, pastry shop, and restaurant that’s open all day, every day. They have a special brunch set menu and they also serve toasts, hamburgers, wraps, omelets, salads, savory bowls, and pizzas. Pão da Vila is one of the best values for money in Ericeira and the portions are quite large and filling, so this is a good option if you’re extra hungry. Plus it’s right in the town square, or jogo da bola, and you can grab an amazing pastry for dessert if you still have room.

Here, I like their veggie wrap, salads, and soup of the day. I’ve also tried their omelets and they’re massive and come with a side of fries and salad, perfect if you’re hungry after a big surf or a day of exploring.

Croissant da Vila

Croissant da Vila:

  • Open every day from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Address: Largo dos Condes da Ericeira 8A, 2655-324 Ericeira
  • Learn more on Instagram

Last but certainly not least, you can try a fabulous croissant any time of the day from Croissant da Vila. They don’t have a ton of seating so this is a good one to pick up and take down to the beach to eat, but you can get a croissant with sweet or savory toppings depending on your mood. The croissants are made fresh and I can smell them from five blocks away when they’re baking.

For me, the croissant with Nutella or salted caramel can’t be beaten! A must at least once while you’re in Ericeira. Now that I think about it, I might go here for breakfast right now!

Now that you’ve got your morning sorted out with a beautiful Ericeira brunch or breakfast, let’s talk about how to end your day. Up next, we’ll cover the best sunset spots for enjoying sea views, good company, and some of the best sunsets imaginable.
